This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide (1915-2015) and the Farmington Community Public Library (Twelve Mile Road, Farmington Hills) will present brothers Ara and Keri Topouzian for an evening of reading and music. Keri is author of The Perfect Armenian, a historical novel which takes place during World War I. Ara is a 2012 Kresge Artist Fellow and musician who has recently released a film documentary about the first generation of Armenian musicians in Detroit preserving the village music. Both Ara and Keri will combine word and music for an enjoyable evening dedicated to the Armenians who lost their lives 100 years ago.

Meet Author Keri Topouzian, as he presents and signs copies of his first novel, “A Perfect Armenian”. This unique cultural event will include an Armenian tradition, called “kinetson” which is a blessing of the book and author by local Armenian clergy. Father Hrant Kevorkian will be presiding over the ceremony.Traditional Armenian music provided by award winning musician Ara Topouzian on Kanun (Middle Eastern laptop harp). Refreshments (there will be wine!) will be provided.
